Becoming A Coachable Student 11/16/25

Keep Your mouth shut. Don't ask any questions till after the coach is done explaining the technique to the class. Do it after the break. Especially if it's your first class.. Observe what the other students are doing and oh...Did I mention STFU for your first class. Don't hold up the class

I get it, your new. You have a million questions being that you are fresh meat. You notice the social anxiety kicking in as you can see that everyone knows each other already. You have don't have anyone that you can partner to do pad work with in Muay Thai. You feel like the lonely unathletic kid that always got picked last for that basketball pick up game back in high school

If you ask too many in depth questions, most people are thinking "who is this new annoying kid" or "get on with it, your eating up class time." No one wants to say it but they are thinking it. Fair? no...but that's mostly the way it is. Yes, I know you don't get care and your going to ask anyway. Try to do it privately when the coach is done explaining so you don't eat up class time.

Pro Tip:

It's social etiquette. Listen to the coach even if you have no idea what he just said in how to go about the moves he just explained. Just take it all in. Ask him after so you don't take up the classes time. Set a good first impression People will like you more so they will be more inclined to want to partner with you the next time. Don't take up class time
